My name is Maksim Zhigalov, and I am an incoming undergraduate student at the University of California, Davis, studying Biological Sciences. I chose UC Davis because of its strong programs in biology and health sciences, and my long-term goal is to pursue a career in medicine and help people through science and healthcare.
I am the first person in my family to attend college in the United States. Moving to a new country as a teenager was a challenging experience, especially learning a new language and adapting to a different education system. Through hard work, determination, and the support of my family and teachers, I was able to graduate high school and earn my place at UC Davis.
During high school, I was involved in theater, sports, dance, volunteering, and academic clubs. These experiences taught me leadership, teamwork, and the importance of supporting others. I hope to continue growing as a student and contribute to the UC Davis community.
College is an exciting opportunity, but the cost of textbooks, supplies, and educational materials can be a significant challenge. Any support toward my education will help me focus more on my studies and my goal of becoming a healthcare professional.
I am grateful to everyone who takes the time to read my story and support my journey. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference and helps me continue pursuing my dreams.
