As a first-generation Mexican-American, the value of education has been instilled in me from a young age, although my parents' education in Guadalajara did not surpass high school. And even though money has always been thin, dreams are wide. “Le tienes que echar ganas” (“You have to give it your all”) is a lesson engraved in me by my parents and my experiences. Their unfulfilled dreams are what motivate me to do better than life permitted my parents.
I begin this new chapter at UC Davis, where I am studying Clinical Nutrition with the dream of becoming a Registered Dietitian. I hope to combine my experiences with my education to help individuals improve their health while expanding access to quality care for underserved communities.
Your support would help alleviate the financial burden of textbooks, technology, and other essentials. Your support would be an investment in my future and the impact I hope to make. My journey is not about transforming my own life but also the lives of those around me. I plan to pay it forward by continuing to inspire others to pursue higher education, breaking cycles of limitation and fostering opportunity for generations to come. Thank you for believing in me and becoming part of my journey.
