Scarlett Luis

University of California, Davis (UCDAVIS)
My name is Scarlett Luis, I’m originally from Rialto CA; thus it was a major adjustment for me to move to Davis. However, here I have discovered myself in many ways and learned how to claim a sense of my own independence and learned how to take care of myself without my mom and dad always being there. I am so thankful for the opportunity God has given me to attend UC Davis.
Furthermore, I am a second year biological science major. I chose this major because I want to pursue my dream of becoming an embryologist. I strive to be an embryologist because unfortunately my brother passed away in a drowning before I was even born to meet him, after my mother struggled to become pregnant again and was left with the pain of the loss of a child. So she went to an embryologist, who helped her become fertile with my now older brother and sister who are twins. My mother often tells me how impactful her embryologist was to her happiness and how they gave her the opportunity to be a mother again. Thus, I want to be able to make that impact on families too, on woman who want so badly to be a mother, but can’t.
Although I have a strong motivation behind why I want to graduate college, my family and I lack the money to provide me with a good working laptop that will make my learning experience better at UC Davis. I work for the UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions office, which I hope will help pay off my student loans, but knowing I need to save more money for a laptop puts more stress on me on top of the stress I have on me already as a full time student.
Funds helping me pay for this laptop would be greatly appreciated and really help relieve me and my family from financial stresses.
Thank you in advance for reading my page, and any for of help will have a heavy impact.
